Starting from the first decade of October, the harvest is made only by hand with a detailed selection of the best and fully ripe bunches. If it’s needed, the pickers can leave the unripe grapes and then coming back a second time, when they are fully ripe.
It lasts 25-35 days with a temperature range between 28°C-30°C in stainless steel vessels.
24 months in Slavonian oak vessels of 20, 26 or 50 HL, part in new ones and part in old ones. When the maturation in oak is ended, the wine rest in bottle for 6 more months before enter the market.
Highest expression of our Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile), with ripe red and black fruit flavours (strawberry, cherry, raspberry, plum) together with floral aromas (violet, rose). It doesn’t lack interesting spicy notes as cocoa, tobacco, dried mushrooms. On the mouth, La Croce is a robust, powerful and tannic wine.
This Vino Nobile Selection should be paired with typical Montepulciano couisine: steak, pasta with local and juicy sauces; with gamey food and cheese you’re never wrong.
